Ari Lennox
Courtney Shanade Salter, also called Ari Lennox, a Washington, D.C.-based American singer/songwriter, was signed as the label's debut female singer with Dreamville Records by J. Cole. Her first single was released with the label on October 21 2016 with the title Pho. It was then that she gained fame. Shea Butter Baby her debut studio album came out on May 7th 2019. Ari Lennox began uploading her tracks on the internet in 2012, when she released her mixtape debut Five Finger Discount, and her debut EP Ariography in the year 2013. In 2014, she dropped more music via the Internet including Bound. She appeared in Omen's Elephant Eyes, in Sweat It Out July 21st, 2015. The following year, her music began to circulate all over the Dreamville team, as J. Cole wanted her to work with him on some possible references for Rihanna. On December 28, 2008 it was revealed that Rihanna had contracted to Dreamville Records. She was featured on the collaborative album Revenge of the Dreamers II in the track Backseat featuring Cozz. On October 21, 2016 the debut EP of Ari Lennox was released, titled Pho. Ari Lennox appeared in J. Cole's Change track and also opened her own tour, the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017. In 2018, she appeared on two songs alongside her label-mates EarthGang to Nothing but the Best. And Bas in Icarus. On July 16 2018 Ari Lennox released the first single, Whipped Cream of her album debut Shea Butter Baby with an accompanying music video that was released on the 5th of September. The second single she released was, Grampa on November 9. In November 2013, she dropped No One and Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby is a track that she recorded with Cole for Creed II's soundtrack on the 16th of November. It then came out as a standalone single in February 2019, to coincide with the release of her debut album. The track was accompanied by an accompanying music video that debuted that was released on February 20, 2019 that surpassed three million views via YouTube within the first week. In support of the track She toured together with 6LACK in December of 2018 for the From East Atlanta With Love Tour.
